LAIKA, Inc. is looking for Software Developer (Filemaker)
duration - Full-Time

Job details:

Award winning animation studio, LAIKA Inc, based in Portland Oregon
and owned by Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman of Nike, is seeking a
Filemaker Software Developer for its Information Technology (IT) group.

Laika is currently in production on the Animated Feature Film “Coraline”, based
on the novel by Neil Gaiman, written for the screen & directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James
and The Giant Peach). In addition the studio has several projects currently in
development including “Jack & Ben” and Alan Snow's "Here Be
Monsters".

Laika's Research & Development Department have many pioneering initiatives
including:

- building tools and pipeline for Stereoscopic Production (Coraline is the
first Stop-Motion Animated Feature to be shot in Stereo);

- developing new tools to assist in the integration of Computer and Stop-Motion
Animation;

- building from the ground up several types of production pipelines;

- creating tools to assist and aid Computer Animation Production.

The Software Developer (FileMaker) develops and supports custom and
off-the-shelf applications which provides core information and communication
services to the studio using FileMaker as the core development platform.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

- Develop and support innovative information system applications to facilitate
animation production and general operations.

- Ensure the availability and function of critical information system
applications

- Work with end users to identify needs and solicit feedback.

Minimum Qualifications

- Three years experience designing, deploying and operating information systems
for production environments

- Five years experience developing and supporting FileMaker databases and
database applications

- Excellent troubleshooting skills

- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Ability to communicate effectively with users of all abilities

Preferred Abilities and Knowledge

- Experience with CentOS, MacOS X, Windows and FreeBSD

- Experience deploying and supporting finance, accounting and human resources
applications

- Experience with FileMaker exports and transitions to SQL

- Scripting experience (perl, ruby)
