The Student Affairs Communications team at the University of California Office of the President is looking for an experienced user interface designer and information architect to direct the development of our online admissions application and websites. You will be responsible for creating site maps, user flows and detailed schematics; building mockups; and ensuring that the final products meet the highest usability standards across multiple platforms and web browsers. You will design and conduct user testing with a clear focus on meeting the needs of prospective students and parents. You will create a clean, navigable structure for our websites that provides easy access to extensive information on how to prepare for, apply to and pay for a UC education.
Required Qualifications:
? Minimum of four years of UI/IA experience
? Proven success managing complex web projects from initial requirements through final revisions
? Demonstrated skill designing user flows, detailed schematics and site architecture based on business goals and user needs
? Experience with planning, conducting and analyzing user testing
? Ability to cleanly implement UI/IA concepts across different platforms and browsers
? Thorough familiarity with HTML hand coding, basic JavaScript coding, CSS, DHTML, FTP, Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash
? Experience working in collaborative teams, with a strong understanding the technical issues faced by engineers and the ability to clearly translate those issues to non-technical clients
? Strong communication skills to articulate content and UI goals, expectations and project deadlines.
? Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines
Desired Qualifications:
? Experience with content-driven and/or complex transactional web applications (similar to turbotax.com)
? Experience coding HTML within JSPs
? Experience working in CVS or another checking environment
? Visual design sensibilities, editorial training or experience
