Whats Dell servers quality like? How is their onsite support? I am thinking to get a couple of SC1425 for colocation purpose. The pricing for the basic configuration seem to be okay. But the price they charge for additional CPU, memory and HDD seem to be very high. Is there a way around this? Are you allow to add them yourself? Would that mean warranty and support are automatically fortfeit? If I use the standard configuration. Is it worth to upgrade from 1 year basic to 3 years basic support plan for $140 extra.

Thanks for info. I have one other question. Has anyone tried CentOS linux OS with dell servers. Do they work well? Particularly in SATA raid card area.

I was kind of surprised that the new 2850 I received had a plastic bezel also. Pretty cheap dell....pretty cheap. However, if that is the only complaint...I guess its not that bad.
