Job details: Flash Game Developer Blockdot, a leading developer of online games located in Dallas, Texas, is currently seeking a Flash Game Developer for their team.

The candidate will be responsible for developing games and game supporting software from both an existing code base as well as implementing new code as needed. The candidate should have the willingness to migrate code as technology and industry trends change as well as a willingness to tackle unfamiliar problems and a desire to learn. The candidate must possess the ability to allocate time and work on multiple smaller projects at once, if necessary. The candidate will work directly with the Lead Programmer, Producer/Project Manager and Artist in very small groups. The candidate must exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to intelligently communicate high level technical information in sometimes relatively simple terms to non technical team members and occasionally clients. The candidate should have the desire to contribute innovative and original ideas and participate in the entire game development process including design, implementation and release.


Qualifications
A Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field and at least 2 years of experience in Flash within the gaming/multimedia industry or an equivalent combination of education and practical work experience.
Experience with ActionScript or another modern programming language and the ability to switch languages as necessary.
Knowledge of core game development principles including collision detection, artificial intelligence, player controls, animation, physics, multi-player, user interface and the ability to implement them into game play features that create an enjoyable user experience.
Excellent analytical and communications skills, oral and written
Ability to write clear, well-organized code
Anticipate, identify and articulate problem areas and develop preventative solutions
Motivated and passionate about video, computer, and Internet games
Other helpful skills include familiarity with Windows API, networking and network protocols and user interface design.
