froomzer, its quite simple. i have a chat script that runs on the command line right now but I want to make one that has a GUI
so all i need is a big windows that has all of the input from all the users and then a small area to type your message. much like IRC but without the names list and menu and stuff

Klimapol, consider pygtk and glade (or gazpacho). building a GUI with these is not only a child's play, it is fun.

Well, if you don't like tkinter, there's pygtk and tepache. you make the gui in glade, run tepache on it, it gives you an easy framework to plugin your events

Klimapol, none of them are really *simpler* than Tkinter, though, certainly not for the two-frame window you have in mind. using a GUI builder will hide part of the complexity from you, but you still need to deal with the rest.

Tkinter should be present on any system with python, that's a big plus
Klimapol , try http://www.ferg.org/thinking_in_tkinter/index.html
