SATA Vs. SCSI?
thoughts and past experience for web/mail/mysql servers including swap?

It depends on what you are going to host.
If you need a server for performance, get scsi.
In case you will host some websites and average stuff, sata will be ok.

Since SCSI is much more expensive, the common perception is that it must be significantly faster. But with the release of 10,000 RPM SATA drives, SCSI simply does not hold the edge it used to, and I don't feel it is worth the extra money. Surely there are still applications that greatly benefit from SCSI but generally a good SATA is sufficient nowdays.

A good u320 SCSI will blow sata out of the water, in regards to both transfer speeds and access rates. If you can afford, SCSI is the way to go.

What about using them exclusivelly for web,mail and mysql?
