| subject: Webmaster/Multimedia Development Specialist , Coast Community College District Coast Community College District is looking for Webmaster/Multimedia Development Specialist duration - Full Time Job details: Webmaster/Multimedia Development Specialist Vacancy ID C-024-07 Shift Regular Work Calendar 12 Mo Classified Open Date 03-26-2007 Job Close Date 04-16-2007 Performance Responsibilities Under direction, designs, develops, maintains, and programs the college's Web site, Web portal, and related links and pages; maintains online information and marketing databases; designs electronic publications; implements web strategies for marketing, public relations, educational services, and virtual classrooms within established District and college procedures; provides leadership, support, training, and service to college Web authors; and performs other related duties as assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: a. Plan, develop, program, and evaluate multi-platform, interactive Web sites and databases for college marketing, student support, and internal and external communication, which includes but is not limited to tracking/logging, surveying, data collection, and data sharing. b. Use standard graphic design software (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, In Design and like programs); design and create computer graphics to be incorporated into Web and multimedia publications. c. Work as part a Marketing/Public Relations/Graphics and Publications team; adhere to college graphic design and branding standards and translate those standards to all web or multimedia publications. d. Incorporate a variety of audiovisual elements (still, video, and animated) and hyper-media interactions into online information and marketing programs by digitizing, encoding, and/or specialized web programming. e. Develop multi-platform, online or interactive presentations for marketing, customer support, new program development, and project planning. f. Coordinate and serve as a member on college's working group charged with integration and architecture of the college's Web presence and development of an ongoing college Strategic Web Plan. g. Assist in the creation of flow charts for planning, design, development, and maintenance of Web sites using adaptive branching, databases, multi-platform networks, and multi-host secure environments. h. Plan, design, and test College Web pages and products to ensure usability and A.D.A. accessibility, paying particular attention to graphic user interfaces, navigation, design, legibility, and readability. i. In conjunction with the IT Department, maintain and trouble shoot software and hardware for college's web page and other portals. j. In conjunction with the IT Department, acts as a Web consultant to College departments and staff, providing training and support on the use, installation, maintenance, and modification of online products and systems. k. Assist in preparing policies, procedures, guidelines, and technical documentation for management of the college's Web presence, keeping up with industry news and trends. l. In conjunction with the IT Department, assist in coordinating and/or performing the installation, trouble shooting, testing, and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of network peripherals, computers, and software used to facilitate the colleges Web development and hosting. m. Recommend systems, programming standards, security, and quality assurance procedures; assist in the definition and projection of future needs and requirements. n. In conjunction with the IT Department, develops specifications and documentation for the College's overall Web architecture and plan. o. Perform other related job duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Faculty/Educational Administrators complete the Equivalency Application only if you do not meet the minimum qualifications for the position you are applying to, and you wish to be considered. Knowledge of: 1. Complex interactive Web systems using programming, authoring, database, and Web development tools such as: Java, C++, Visual Basic, Perl, CGI, Toolbook II, Director/Lingo, HTML/DHTML/XML, Flash, GoLive, Dreamweaver UltraDev, ActiveX/OLE, Active Server Pages, Cold Fusion, Apache, ISQL, Access, or current Web development software. 2. Visual/graphic design and production for web and/or multimedia products/sites using software such as Photoshop, Bryce, Painter, Flash, InDesign, Illustrator, Corel, Premier, PowerPoint, Acrobat, or other current software. 3. Strategies for Web design, development, production, maintenance, documentation, and user support and training including use of specialized tools for planning and design. 4. Systems used for integrating hardware and software to design and serve/host complex Web systems, including databases, online courseware management, online registration or data collections systems, etc. 5. Technical standards required for design, development, and maintenance of complex Web systems, e.g., Bobby, IEEE, IMS, ADL/SCORM, etc. 6. Web standard (W3C) and web accessibility requirements (ADA accessibility). 7. Software programs for computer/video graphics, online course development, Web animation, video capture, and audio/video streaming applications. 8. Web and network systems and software. Ability to: 9. Design, develop, and program complex interactive Web sites. 10. Assist in the development of flowcharts and branching strategies to achieve marketing, communication, and student and staff support objectives. 11. Design and program online marketing and training presentations incorporating a variety of media. 12. Design and create computer graphics, interactive simulations, data collection systems, and navigation systems for a complex Web site. 13. Assist in designing, organizing and implementing customer support training and documentation for complex Web sites. 14. Render, digitize, encode, edit, and/or format audio, video, and graphics media for online delivery. 15. Install, troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct software and hardware for Web systems. 16. Liaison with vendors regarding hardware and software needs, troubleshoot and recommend modifications. 17. Create specifications, procedures, and guidelines for online design, development, documentation, and site maintenance. 18. Adhere to branding standards set forth for the College's graphic design projects. 19. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 20. Demonstrate professional customer service skills when communicating with Web site users including students, faculty and staff. 21. Organize workloads and meet deadlines. 22. Establish and maintain effective relationships with those contacted in the performance of job duties, and to work effectively and cooperatively as part of a team. 23. Organize, coordinate, and lead work teams. Education and Experience: 24. Completion of at least two years of college-level education directly related to multimedia development, computer graphics, information systems, computer science, or computer programming. 25. Four years of progressively responsible work experience in the field of interactive multimedia design, development, and computer programming/authoring, preferably in development of Web sites. 26. Or, any combination of education and experience that would provide the required qualifications. Desired Qualifications Conditions of Employment This is a regular, full-time, 12-month per year position. The normal hours of work will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor. Salary Range $5,304 (Step 1) - $6,452 (Step 5) Pay Philosophy Starting salaries for support staff positions begin at Step-1 of the salary range. Employees hired prior to April 1 of each year will move to the next step on the upcoming July 1. Employees hired on or after April 1 of each year will move to the next step the following July 1. All movement on the salary schedule will occur July 1 of each year for all classified employees.
