Salary: $39,960 - $55,920 (Midpoint of Range)
Job Duties
Provide professional support to update and maintain existing divisional websites as well as the development and production of new websites.
Manage content production and publication. Work includes projects such as web content reorganizations and content migrations.
Assist in the design of clean, effective websites. Validate on W3.org and website accessibility related to ADA regulations.
Create and edit HTML documents. Update existing websites and markup language. Redirect website links as change occurs.
Create style sheets, design templates and webpage content using subject matter information provided by department managers and staff.
Research and develop new interactive content including Flash/XML and Flash video applications.
Participate in developing and establishing project and production timelines and schedules and in communicating these to clients.
Research and recommend new software tools and potential technology solutions for improving user interface.
Maintain currency regarding web technology trends and practices. Make recommendations regarding their impact on website content and development and use of other multimedia.
Assist clients with use of tools such as Dreamweaver and Contribute.
Assist media production team with delivery of multimedia content such as embedded video for websites and implement webcasts/chats as needed.
Archive and back up old projects and sites
Supply graphic assets to clients and UCOP departments as requested
Maintain staging server files and directories
Create documentation for website templates and style guides
Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements -- Required
Bachelor's degree in computer or information science or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience plus 3 years experience in a technical web development environment.
Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of web design and current cross-platform coding and browser compatibility issues. Demonstrated experience with HTML and coding, W3C issues and guidelines, web content management processes and ADA issues as related to web technology translation.
Demonstrated ability to handcode valid and semantic HTML and CSS as well as experience with CSS-based layout and separation of content from presentation.
Demonstrated ability to create tables, templates and forms, implement JavaScript or similar scripting language and use current multimedia graphic applications and web authoring tools such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop.
Demonstrated ability to focus on key issues, research, gather and integrate information from a variety of sources and consider/recommend reasonable options.
Demonstrated ability to track, organize and prioritize projects and workload and request resources and information needed to do the job
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients from a variety of backgrounds including scientific, academic and business as demonstrated by seeking regular input from others in order to make informed decisions.
Excellent written communications skills as demonstrated by the ability to draft website information, edit, proofread and prepare in an appropriate format.
Proven ability to interact with others in a consistently positive manner, relate to a wide array of people and communicate in a manner that demonstrates a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact.
Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment as demonstrated by initiating additional tasks show a comprehensive understanding of the project, regularly achieving results and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision or feedback. Must be able to use Word Office Suite.
Preferred --Experience in web-editing and/or proofreading.
