| subject: Sr Server Programmer , Sony Online Entertainment Sony Online Entertainment is looking for Sr Server Programmer duration - Full Time Job details: Sr Server Programmer ***To see a complete listing of all job opportunities, go to: www.sonyonline.com and click on career opportunities*** Primary Responsibilities (in 1 or more of the following 3 areas): Engine Technology Rendering, collision detection, physics, scene management, algorithmic and low-level optimization Game Systems Game mechanics, animation controllers, pathfinding, vehicle physics, weapons, UI Design and implement both client and server side game code for massively multiplayer games Requirements: Fluent in C++, general purpose coding workhorse; ability to code anything from small data structures to large interconnected systems. Years of hands-on experience with the basic tools of the trade: Visual Studio, C++, OO-design, 3D Studio Max, Linux/UNIX experience. Strong problem solving skills. Have ability to comprehend code and functionality in large systems with ability to diagnose and apply proper code fixes. Linux familiarity (coding differences and similarities). Have an understanding of how *nix works and how to navigate the environment. Relational database programming and schema maintenance (SQL database programming) Network programming a plus. Strong experience with client/server network programming (TCP/IP, UDP, Sockets). Performance tuning/writing code to perform well with existing systems. Threading and synchronization concepts. Experience programming in a multi-threaded environment. Strong background in trigonometry, linear algebra, calculus, computational geometry, and knowledge of algorithms. Experience with 3D graphics, user-interface programming, and/or tools programming. Ability to work under stringent deadlines and meet timeline goals. A passion for games. Experience: Relevant experience in the video game industry working on PC games and/or MMOs, preferred A deep understanding of object-oriented programming, design and code portability.
