Date posted: 3 Aug 2005 Internet Security Engineer JOB FAMILY Operations ROLE SUMMARY As a key member of the IP Security team you will be responsible for maintaining, improving and enforcing the security of the Easynet Networks. A good knowledge and enthusiasm for security systems, techniques and methodologies is essential. DEPARTMENT Network Operations KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS Development of new security products and services Maintain existing services and designs, implement improvements where applicable Keep informed about current security threats and communicate possible vulnerabilities to the relevant departments. Provide Input to Security Policies and procedures. Provide Staff Education according to best practise and the security policy. Raise Staff awareness with regards to all security matters Provide consultancy services to customers Liaise with customer service representatives and other customer facing departments with regards to threats, which may affect customer systems Diagnose problems and respond quickly to customer problems and service outages Deliver technical projects and documentation within defined timescales Build a bridge between Network Engineering and the security team as contact point of expertise Manage and design Security solutions based on CISCO PIX, Watchguard, Netscreen and Checkpoint Firewall-1. Perl and Shell scripting for management, vulnerability assessment and penetration tests. Manage and design Secure Authentication systems, which use standard authentication mechanisms like Kerberos, RADIUS, RSA SecureID, OS authentication, LDAP etc. Act as focal point for security relevant updates including package management and package creation. COMPETENCIES A minimum of two years experience in Network Security gathered either in an ISP or Banking environment CCSA or comparable certifications in the Security arena required Knowledge of IP protocols, Routing, Switching, Network topologies and design, IPSEC and SSL based VPNs Knowledge of Firewall technologies such as CISCO PIX, Checkpoint Firewall-1, Watchguard, Netscreen, iptables/ipchains, ipfw, ipf, pf including the different OS platforms these systems can run on Penetration testing and vulnerability scanning with commercial and Open Source tools Network Intrusion Detection Systems (commercial and Open Source based) Experience of different Operating Systems such as UNIX System V based Operating systems (Linux, BSD, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris), Windows based Operating Systems Strong knowledge of CISCO equipment. Juniper experience is a plus VPN concentrator experience (Nortel, CISCO etc.) Two-factor Authentication systems Previous experience in the Telecommunications field is a plus (Voice & Data) Perl and Shell Scripting Security Management knowledge Self motivated and excellent team skills are essential PROBLEM ANALYSIS Able to identify issues, seek relevant data, recognise important information and be able to diagnose the possible causes PROFESSIONAL/TECHNICAL COMPETENCE Subject matter expertise within area of specialism.
