The firm is headquartered in San Diego, CA with satellite offices in Orange County, CA and Boulder, CO. About the Position Please note that this is NOT an entry-level position. We are looking for an experienced Macromedia Flash developer to join our Flash development team. Flash ActionScript and ActionScript 2.0 is critical along with an expertise in using well-formed XML and SQL database interaction to develop dynamic, database-driven interactive experiences. Visual conceptualization leading to the development of rich interactive user experiences for online delivery is required. This includes but not limited to development of interactive virtual tours and maps, data-driven slideshows and galleries, branded audio and video players, sound and video editing, and the development of innovative interactive solutions for web sites. Duties and Responsibilities Establish, document, and maintain RMA development standards and communicate to staff and internal customers. Work with client services to guide the development of functional and technical specifications for custom Flash projects; Participate in client meetings as requested, serving as a technical resource in project development and planning; Oversee the timely completion of work within budgeted timelines for all projects. Stimulate the development and documentation of tools and applications, providing support for the resale of such products to clients. Help define and manage Interactivate's Flash development standards and testing protocols; Act on behalf as the Web Development Manager in his absence; Estimate departmental resources for proposed projects based on functional requirements; Participate in client meetings as requested, serving as a technical lead; Participate in internal project kickoff meetings, representing the development team and collecting information relevant to the development process. Provide on-the-job and classroom training to develop skills within the development team; Act as lead Web developer on larger projects, coordinating development tasks among members of a project team; Complete production requests on time and within budgeted timelines, working with the Production Manager to address questions and/or conflicting priorities; Prepare ("cut up and size") image files (e.g. psd files) and optimize them for programming; Layout and program Web sites/pages, using HTML and cascading style sheets, providing a reliable structure for page performance and scalability Manage version control of all development files within Interactivate's source control software (CVS) and publish files to production as appropriate; Develop Web site architecture, including navigation, file structures and server-side files; Design well-structured data models and create databases; Develop dynamic Web site content features, including database design and creation; Produce Web forms that capture data to a database; Update existing Web sites/pages, editing content and images per client request; Test and validate programmed pages to verify layouts display and functionality performs as expected on Interactivate's standard platforms and browsers; Diagnose and resolve technical problems; Maintain a working knowledge of advances and trends in programming and technology, providing appropriate updates and recommendations to the leadership team; Position Requirements Three+ years designing, creating, and maintaining data-centric Flash applications. Ability to maintain or migrate Flash 4, 5, and 6 applications that utilize XML and/or AMFPHP Knowledge of object-oriented PHP for use with Flash remoting applications using AMFPHP Creating and consuming XML/SOAP web services using PHP and Macromedia Flash Knowledge of model-view-control (MVC) and model-view-presenter (MVP) design patterns. Capable of concept-to-completion management all phases of software life cycle from receipt of creative comps through quality assurance, deployment, and maintenance. Must have strong understanding and experience working with the following: o MySQL or PostgreSQL o XML and related specs (XPATH, XSL, etc.) o AS1, AS2 and Object Oriented Programming o Macromedia Flash MX2004 Professional o Version 2 Macromedia Component Architecture o Software version control (rcs, cvs, or subversion) An online portfolio that includes highly effective UI elements developed in Flash is strongly encouraged.
